Why so focused on young Yumiko, U ask? Well..
1) I love the vibrant playful simplicity her self portraits reveal about the artist.
2) She is a prolific artist working at almost Terminatoresque efficiency.
I'm not sure if this is how she views her sexuality or if she's trying to interpret how people see her.
(Note how I intentionally used PPL bc I'm confident Yumiko gets ogled by just as many women as she does men)

She has painted about 20+ paintings per year for the past 14 years.
Yumiko was born in Hokkaido, Japan. She has lived in Seattle since 2005.
These paintings remind me of the ancient 'pillow book' illustrations. It's interesting to see the pervasive impact this ancient art has had on Japanese culture (sexy anime, cosplay, maid cafes, escort cards lying all over the street, etc).
Notice those toes all agape, crying out 2 B smothered in real maple syrup & licked clean.
Her work always contains some traditional Japanese elements & there's a quirky twist.
I think save Middle Eastern & Hindu cultures, the Japanese have the most difficult time balancing the traditions from the past w/ their high-tech, fast food, fast paced modern lives.
