Master Kim JungGi loves drawing & seems to never stop sketching. He draws just about everything, as I have presented in these past posts; Ancient Asia, War & Holidays

In this collection, I've gathered JungGi's sketches about sketching. These are less fantastic & more based on his actual surroundings; observing his art students at AniChanga, the art & animation school he co-directs, in the car with his family or just waiting around in a park.

Most of these works appear in JungGi's collected sketchbooks which are compiled about once every 2 years. "OMPHALOS" his latest book, focuses on his erotic &/or perverse sketches.
This has been an extremely busy year for Master JungGi, he had his first solo show in Japan back in May. Then he set the Guinness World Record for the longest & fastest fish-eye art illustration at Odeon in Penang, Malaysia & also has a section of the museum permanently dedicated to his historical drawings of Penang called, “Kimagination” in June.
Currently, he's headed for the US. He'll have a 1 day only pop-up art show at White Walls in San Francisco on July 18, 2015. Then he'll be giving a workshop & lecture "Thinking Through Drawing" at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles on July 26, 2015.

"My studio is located in my academy (AniChanga). I am a co-principal of this independent college preparatory academy for cartoon & animation major. I arrive at the studio by noon, turn on the computer & collect photographs for visual resource. As I go through the collection of photographs I try to memorize all the important parts of the images. After that I start working, usually 5~6 hours a day."

"I have a considerably speedy hand. Quick memorization makes it faster to visualize the images. I started drawing without outlines for educational purpose. As an art school instructor I had to create real-time drawings while the students were watching me. I thought outlines took too much time so I just went on with water color not including preparatory sketch, & it worked."
